It cannot be easy to produce a monthly magazine that caters for such a wide range of experienced cruisers, boat owners, charterers, and beginners. And, yes, it is inevitable that the same subjects will come round again. But I've only just read the December YM, and have to say that I thought it was pretty good read.

I saw the forum discussion of the rope handling article, but, sad person that I am, found it interesting. The articles on Naomi James, the North Channel, Cape Horn, Suvarov atoll, the sail/power race for the new Beaujolais, plus the usual regular features, were all first class imho, and what I'd expect of a good cruising magazine.

So there.

get out of here Sgeir. Your not enough of a sad whinging git to be allowed on these fora. Of course it is GB's fault that YM is going down the drain /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Of course it's not GB's fault, it's a global problem, but YM is better placed than its rivals to weather the storm. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

no no no. It is Gb and his sidekick Darling. YM is going down the drain aided and abetted by the fools in Brussels. Get out of the EU, I say. Save the pound, and bring back the dinky dimples on the cover...

NO, NO, NO!!!!! YM has been anchored in the same part of the market for many years!!! What anchor have they been using????

Well obviously the right one, if it has remained set all these years in the same place.

Are none of you aware of White Paper 01/04/09 "Inclusion in Privileged Sub-Communities" (HMSO: London) that set the national target for increasing the attainment of the under-represented in skilled leisure activities? This target imposes upon the related press (Section 1.3.1 para. 2b) a requirement to satisfy the National Inspector of Inclusion Targets (NIIT) that, in the words of para. 2b "A minimum of 16.8% of content as judged by the number of words as conventionally counted (see HMSO Publication No. 08/233, Section 9a) must be conveyed in a manner that is accessible to those with no previous experience, or at most limited experience, as judged with respect to the standard interpretation of knowledge relevant to the activity as defined in Section 0.0.1 para. 3 notwithstanding the limitations imposed by para 4c and the restriction conditions outline in para 6." This lays the blame firmly at the feet of EB, not GB.

No, but I believe they use the weedier and more easily digestible articles as part of their digestive tract cleaning system, having learnt this 'adaptive ' behaviour from their cash strapped,looroll-less human counterparts moored slightly above them in the food chain at weekends..

Sea horses? No - far too eco threatening.,

With crunch times, it's back to basics - anticles upcoming will include "100 ways to improve the efficiency of your boat with a spent washing up liguid bottle" etc

Hey, what am I talking about - that was the lead article in PBO 25 years ago. Well, I'll be blowed...what goes around, comes...

Absolutely. I mean, quite right old chap.

What we need is more advice for the beginner, such as the dangers of tapping one's pipe out to windward, 101 recipes for bully beef and dried peas, getting an rdf fix, the advantages of waxed cotton waterproofs over oiled canvas ones and so on.

Any more?
