A few months ago I read about a yacht support system involving webbing straps without props or metal cradle. Can anyone remind me where I read it. I have recently been to the paper bank with a bootful of mags so I can't back pedal for it.

It was 3/4 months ago, and is popular in Sweden I believe. The keel is resting on 2 heavy wooden beams or steel RSJ's, slightly wider than the beam, and straps are taken from a strong point on deck to the end of each beam, thus holding the boat upright. It might work in Sweden, but the point was made that a hooligan could easily cut the straps and BANG - your boats fallen over! Some how I don't think the insurance companies would like it, a solid piece of metal or wooden prop is far safer. Also about the only strong point would be the shrould plates and to pull down from them would put the incorrect strain on them. Better to take the strap from one side, over the coach roof and then down to the beam, however the strap is then longer and will stretch more. I have done this myself so I could antifoul under the support pads with the boat on the trailer, but is was only temporary and would not like to do it all over winter.
