OK, when the yacht was on the beach I took some video.
Now, I had never in my life tried to edit video before, nor had I ever used the editing software I bought a while ago - in fact I only installed it a few hours ago.
Nor had I ever before uploaded a vid to YouTube.
But now I have. As you'd expect it is totally amateurish.
I won't say 'enjoy', that's quite inappropriate, and although when I was there I was able to deal with the situation dispassionately, I actually find watching the film quite upsetting.

Ah, brings back such memories of my last glimpse of my own boat from the helicopter as she was smashed to pieces on the rocks at the base of a 600 foot cliff in a force 7 with 15 foot waves.

Pretty professional Dick; if sad. A useful reminder of the power of the sea and the concrete nature of the bits of land under and around it. She may have been a light racer/cruiser but I doubt many would have survived that. Actually she must have done really well given the time necessary to scramble and fly from Belgium.

Very sad Dick. Reminds me how lucky I was to escape so lightly when my boat went aground on the Barrow the year after I bought her. Single handing back to the Thames from Burnham I met up with 30 knot headwinds and spent almost 14 hours on the water including stemming an entire foul tide. Madness and inexperience with a new boat. I should have run back to Brightlingsea. I should have anchored. I should have stayed in Burnham and gone back for the boat the following week. A lot of should haves. The tide finally turned in my favour but I was knackered and a moment to double check is all it would have taken. Thanks to a long lead keel and the Sheerness lifeboat, I still have my lovely boat. I hope the owners of Justice find the will to carry on sailing.

If you hadn't told us that we wouldn't have known.

A very sad event. Someone said it was like watching a human die. It reminded me of a favourite dog I had once, who died on our back lawn.

I was surprised how robust the spade rudder appeared. It seemed to survive the pounding and even seemed to be intact when the boat was resting upright,
