I read about that voyage. The girl was 16 and hoped to be the youngest woman to do the passage. Her mast snapped in two in a storm and she had to pull the plug.

Look like it drifted right through the MH370 search area, which just goes to show how hard it is to find something out in the ocean.

In terms of length of drift, it's not that great - see http://teamadventuresg.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-remains-of-great-american-i.html - the Grat American was abaandoned 400 nm WEST of Cape Horn and ended up on South Georgia about 1000 nm EAST of Cape Horn. If South Georgia hadn't been in the way, she might be on her 3rd or 4th circumnavigation by now!

I only happen to know about it because her remains are in a database of historic artefacts for South Georgia that was compiled under my management,,,
