I built one recently. I completely underestimated how useful it would be. Rigid grab rails are fantastic. Two things which surprised me. I fretted about getting a seal between the dodger and deck. In the end I left a few mm gap whilst I thought about it. In practice no water comes in and it's easier to keep clean. A bit of flexibility seems good too. The other unexpected thing is the white underside reflects a lot of light even from dimmed cabin lights when night sailing. A dark surface would be much better.
