Well - as you will well know, there is a cardinal mark in Oban Bay and I'm told that to go the wrong side of that piece of Ecclesiastical guidance is sure to land you on the Corran Ledges. You seem to be suggesting that one can take a more liberal approach with an Abbot...?Well, I've sailed past the Inchcape Rock (Bell Rock), on which the abbot of Aberbrothock notoriously placed a bell. Abbots are much closer to archbishops than cardinals are.
I don't think it matters which side you go - you just aim to miss them

Doesn't really matter where you are coming from then - just go left. But if you are not of the C of E persuasion - a Wee Free for example?
