Those Optolamps are very good. I bought one a few years ago, and had to ask Rev Morris to explain the wiring diagram. Clever stuff apparently, though he did say that if I switched it on it a certain way, I could end up emulating a North Cardinal.


It is destined to be my emergency nav light kit on the stern gantry in case the mast falls down.

I've never plotted a course that involved sailing near to an Archbishop - which side of the 'point of interest' are they placed on?

Well, I've sailed past the Inchcape Rock (Bell Rock), on which the abbot of Aberbrothock notoriously placed a bell. Abbots are much closer to archbishops than cardinals are.

I don't think it matters which side you go - you just aim to miss them ����

Well - as you will well know, there is a cardinal mark in Oban Bay and I'm told that to go the wrong side of that piece of Ecclesiastical guidance is sure to land you on the Corran Ledges. You seem to be suggesting that one can take a more liberal approach with an Abbot...?

You're right though - that'll create a risk of collision with the Scots. Couldn't have that after our peaceful history together. I've an idea - give them all a bladder catheterisation and they'll nae more be wee free. With apologies to my friends North of the border.
