Any ideas to where I may find a link on how to do this please?
Looked on web now for 2 hrs - all to no avail
Thx
Dave
I'm talking about the compression post :-)

My compression post is covered in rope with a Turks head at the ends. It has got grubby and I don't know how to clean it. It also stops the table from sliding up to gain access to the bilge section under the table. A mixed blessing that is on my list to remove. I have one painted teak colour and it takes up less space visually

If i were you i wouldn't bother, you will use masses of rope which will be suprisingly expensive and it will be very difficult to clean. If i was me and i really wanted to cover it i would cover it with leather, would be cheaper and would be easier to take off and clean.

I don't know if you remember but on Capricious there is a plastic sleeve which matches the headlining and is fastened in place with a full length velcro strip. I think it cost £15 from a local seamstress.

When I got my boat (a Moody) the steel compression post had been neatly rope covered. However it had started to get grubby and there was some rust marks showing. As mentioned by MoodySabre it has to be removed to raise the table and I had to do this. I then found that the rope had encouraged damp and corrosion of the post, so I did not replace it.

I would make sure that the post is well rust treated before putting any ropework on.
