There was a fire at the East beach at Wrabness last night. Five huts were completely destroyed, and two were badly scorched.

The cause isn't known - might have been accidental or deliberate, or perhaps careless disposal of one of those barbeques. People seem to think that hiding litter under the huts is acceptable, so who knows. The Police are investigating but hard to imagine they'll make much headway.

Sad for the hut owners, and they're going to be like broken teeth for a while to come. They should have been insured but we'll see.image1.jpegimage2.jpegimage0.jpegimage1.jpeg

Was there Sunday afternoon and went back today. Couldn’t believe it! Very sad.

Thanks for the picture, WF36. We haven't been over to see the damage - our hut is four to the east of the burnt-out strip, and apparently it was a strong easterly wind that evening.

Very sad indeed. Always thought they were a nice thing for families to have for some good old fashioned fun.

Incidently there was a line side fire near Wrabness Station today as well. Bored kids?
