There seem to be far more threads per diem, now that each new post on an existing thread brings that thread to the head of the queue
Yes - but it also means that threads that should have been quietly left to die just keep on going and going....

A certain "meet" thread would be a good example.

Change it if you don't like it. There are loads of user options available. Go to 'User CP' and you can set almost whatever you like. It's in 'Settings and Options > Edit Options > Thread Display Options'.
Don't quite see that. Surely it's better to see what is actively being discussed. Otherwise a popular and active debate on a thread would get burried under loads of Billy-No-Mates threads with no responses.I agree with the other posters that it is a pain to see old threads dragged to the top

I can't believe people don't like this 'new' way... it makes total sense, as the vaaast majority of forums on the internet also believe. The old version was ridiculous - having to trawl through pages to check if your post in a particular thread had been replied to.
We are however looking at ways so that everyone can choose their own setting and it will stay that way.
Or just look in UserCP where you will automatically be subscribed to any threads that you have posted to.Incidentally, if you just want to know when/if your post has had a reply, you can set email notifications, etc. in both old & new set-ups.
