Would you Rustle a Swan?

I am dreaming.
Having read the glowing report in ST on the new Rustler 42, I went off looking at details of older Rustlers for sale. They look very nice, but if I had that much money to spend what do the Esteemed Forumites have to say about these boats compared , say, to an older smallish Swan?
I am dreaming about long term blue water cruising.

Rustler, Swan, Nich - all excellent tough MABs - I ended up with a Sweden (huge space inside and fast with it!) hopefully to liveaboard once I've stopped paying school/Uni fees!

I've been thinking of a Duck ... but I could probably only afford a Coot! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've sailed on a Rustler 36, which was a lovely boat.

I've also sailed on a Swan 51. I have a picture somewhere in the house of me at the helm in a F8 off Cape St Vincent. I've got the widest, cheesiest grin on my face that you could imagine !

My own particular favourite would be a Najad, probably a 440CC.

Just have to dream until I win the lottery, I suppose

I've sailed my Rustler 36 (Amoret) for five years now. She's a beautifully balanced boat with a long, comfortable stride to windward. Performance in lighter conditions is surprisingly good for a long-keeler too. The "must-have" extras to get the best out of a Rustler are a biggish cruising chute and, above all, a windvane self-steering gear. If you plan to visit marinas much, it is worth considering a bowthruster.

There are 115 Rustler 36's and 14 Rustler 42's. I believe only 2 of the 42's have changed hands, so I assume you mean 36's. Great boats. If you want one, their membership association is an open site and has loads of info and a "For Sale" section.
