Would you recomend your winter marina to others?

We are spending our 13th winter here in Morlaix Brittany we are 5 mins from the train station which serves brest /Paris and the brest airport has connections to the Uk mainland. its a 15th centry town with everything you could need. We live aboard our Colvic Watson 32. A years contract with paying electric for the 6 winter months is 1080 euros. The Marina is 6 miles upthemorlaix river and your are locked in we have seenwinds from calm to F11 here and never had a problem. The staff are very helpful but you would have to speak french as nobody speaks English here.

Nostradamus. Thank you for details on Ragusa. Would it be a good place to leave a yacht on the hard overwinter unattended? Is there any security, good cradles, etc?

The yard here is pretty secure but then again crime is low anyway and it feels very safe here.
On the downside no one uses the yard to take the boat out as it is just so expensive (about 1400 euros for a 13m boat). The yard themselves don't seem to want to do any work and there are no real discounts. I believe you get 10% off if you book in here for the year but you cannot work on the boat yourself.
As a winter marina it is excellent but summer prices are far higher.

Nostrodamus
Your further help please.
can you advise whether Ragusa is a suitable place to leave the boat for several months unattended?
Is there anyone local who would check lines and keep an eye on the boat in my absence?
Charlie - yacht Alkira

No problem at all. It is very safe, very well sheltered and with the amount of live aboard's here there is always someone to check your lines besides the marenellos who do it on a regular basis.
We enjoyed it so much this year about 90% of the people here are coming back next year.

So nearing for many of us the close of our winter dwelling, this thread is definitely up for debate. Hate to admit it but Nostro was not too quick to say how good it is here in Marina di Ragusa. (I'll never hear the end of that, oh dear...)!

Other thoughts on winter places fellow cruisers?

Just for good measure

Ok, for the last time.

we are in port yasmine and give it a wholehearted recommendation -- safe, secure, good food, good shopping for food, easy run to airport to fly almost anywhere, great sightseeing inside the country -

the marina is clean and efficient and reasonable cost wise and the weather is much better than northern marinas

take a hard look and you may be surprised at what a great place it is

Will be in Tunisa later in the year for a haul out as it is far cheaper than here and we are looking forward to seeing some of the country.
