Worst bit of helming I\'ve seen for ages

We were on the way to the Southend Air Show Sunday morning and had reached Folly Point on the Medway and came across a dinghy race, the majority of whom were on a port tack. There were only a couple of racers to our starboard so we worked our way behind them, to my disbelief a sports boat towing a tender just held their course and the second to last yacht had to turn away as the mobo, which was overtaking, came within touching distance, the helm of the sports boat was on the right, so there was no way they couldn't have seen the yacht.
To make matters worse the tender, which was on a long tow then got caught on the yacht.
The yacht crew, justifiably had a go at the mobo which then gave the yacht crew abuse, and also the race safety boat.
No wonder we get slagged off, I actually felt ashamed, and just couldn't look any more, and I know thats all he'll remember about mobo's, can't really blame him either.

Do we know who or what the boat was ?
Spotted you in Stangate as we came past at the crack of dawn on Sunday.

Re: Worst bit of helming I\'ve seen for ages

I have noticed this year that a lot of the dinghy racing is now taking place north of the moorings in Gillingham Reach instead of tacking across the channel. It seems to work better for everyone.

I came across some bad boat building Saturday night. A typical Medway home made greenhouse on an ancient hull, came out of Stangate at about 22.30. His nav lights were on the wrong side. It confused me totally. I had to stick my head out of the wheelhouse and check what side mine were on in case I was wrong.

Yep, I know who and where they are.
How did your voyage go, it wasn't me in Stangate Sunday Fred, you need to replace your plastic toy bino's with real ones.
See you were fish charming Monday morning Stoaty.
I'm pleased to report that half the Medway fleet got stuck on the sand at the airshow and we all got sunburned in true Medway tradition.
