maybe it is already known, but here there are nautical charts of the whole sphere, just click and recenter the chart, zoom at leisure

North America.

That's very useful, Roberto, thanks a lot. What's more, for the UK they seem remarkably up to date.

I notice they omit Canada, USA, Bahamas. NOAA used to provide these on the internet, but have withdrawn the service. However all coastal charts for the US are still available HERE.

Re: Found it

interesting site but have to say some of the data is a bit bizarre e.g. chichester marina and thornham seem to have been displaced by several miles

the site seems to be aimed at promoting c-map so it seems to be shooting itself in the foot!

Re: Found it

The charts you see are from I think the basic background chart supplied with PC Planner, which is a cartridge reader plus software to allow C-Map cartridge charts to be viewed (in full screen and printable) on the PC. We have this as a means of loading/maintaining waypoints and routes at home as well as a means of sending data from our Raytheon plotter to our Navman cockpit plotter, such that both have the same waypoints and route active. Unfortunately the Raytheon and Navman backup blank cartridges are different memory sizes so needing the use of the PC-Planner on the PC as an intermediary. PC-Planner is very useful to have if you use C-Map IMHO.

Re: Found it

What datum are you working on? I ask because there appears to be some discussion about the datum of the charts.
I have only got an old C4 Imray to hand and that's OSGB36 - and these charts are definitley not that from a couple of fixed reference points - others maintain they are not WGS84 either...........
