250ml 10/30 oil
60 ml 80/90 gear oil
Cr4hsb plug 0.60 mm gap
Valve gap ex and inlet 0.15mm
Thats about it really.....
Btw most honda agents wont touch the valve gap. Far too much work.
Hope this helps you or anyone else.

Somebody put together a lengthy PDF on servicing the 2.3 and uploaded or linked to it here a while ago. I don't have the link but do have a copy- PM if you want it as I can't seem to upload it as an attachment (bit big).

I too would be grateful for a copy of that - I will pm you.

I have emailed the "workshop manual" to Meesrs Murphy and Bz. It is mostly about servicing and cleaning out the carb. Looking through it, I see the author thoughtfully put a link to the relevant thread in the PDF! The methodology was Phoenix of Hamble's (a regular here) but the PDF was made by "Sailingman111", who only ever seemed to make one post.

This is the original thread (the PDF is linked in a post on page 2): http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?207530-Honda-BF2-3-carb-clean

And here is the link to the manual which is still available on google docs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1J_LEq5sY4abs75jeYxCSj3hdqpkzcMXykbc7XkavrQw/edit

I'm sure Steve will be able to add any detail to it or correct any errors via this thread as he is the expert on these hondas. (I am not, and had nothing to do with the document itself!)

Cheers

Master Bitbaltic,

You are a gent. That is what the forum is really all about.

When we finally get around to our UK circumnavigation and if we find ourselves in Milford I hope we can buy you a real (rather than virtual) beer

A comprehensive guide to cleaning your carburettor, well done for taking the time to compile. The only thing I will add is the jets mentioned are the main cirvuit. If your having problems with your engine only running on choke you need to clean the slow circuit and jet and ports. The slow jet(pilot) is found underneath the top carburettor cover held on with 4 screws

Basically these are exploded diagrams of a 2 hp honda Carb. The diagrams show how the slow circuit ans main circuit work whilst running. If your slow running is an issue these diagrams will show you where the blockage will be. Also the same for your main circuit.
Saves trying to explain the boring fundamentals of carburettors

Sorry folks, supplementary question.
When replacing gearbox oil instruction is to replace through DRAIN HOLE using a pump and adapter until it runs out of top hole.
Seems odd to me but never the less, if I don't have an adapter can I just fill through the TOP hole while leaving the bottom screw in place after draining?
I don't want to drain it and then find I can't refill.

due to the thick oil it will air lock, the gear oil squeezy containers normally have a plastic tube to affix to the top
