Wooden transom

Has anyone put a wooden transom on a GRP boat? This weekend I saw an Elizabethan 30 with a wooden transom and it looked great. Not sure if it was a veneer or if they cut out and inserted a solid wood transom. Anyone done this??

Expect it is a veneer. Can't imagine anybody replacing a GRP transom totally with wood. Some of the Najad boats were made with wood overlays on coachroof sides and transoms for cosmetic purposes (and to charge a higher price)
