I owned Flare for a while . No 1 of her class

There used to be an owners forum but the guy who ran it and used to own flare was not to well as far as i know . Sail plans are out there online and i'm sure i have posted them up here ( On the old forum)

Shame i couldnt get her home to do her up but after three cranes on stand by and a low loader only to be told by the yard owner he wont open the yard untill mid day you start to realise hes not going to let the boat get moved .
Shame really as i could have done her up a treat .

Dear Sir
I have been unable to find this sail plan I have spent hours upon hours searching in vain
I have taken my boat out of the water and fixed up the hatches and fixed some holes which were on he deck
I have started to work on the interior I just pulled out everything and I am planning a new interior job I will start this tomorrow
Next week I plan to raise the mast and to put in new standing rigging Then the running rigging Then I really need the sails to get her to work
Can you please help me by pointing me to some site or the other with the sail plan
Thanks
Capt Tuna

Have you tried personal messages to some of the people mentioned above because they may not be aware that this thread is running?
It was always a mystery to me that the website folded as soon as it was handed to alingernet because it was a good little website.

Hi Could you let me know where Flare is and has she been sold. I have a Kestrel 22' wood or clinker the same. Just interested. thanks

I've recently been restoring 'Katydid', now on hardstanding in Robertsons boatyard @ Woodbridge, only yards from the Kestrel shed. Hope to get her into a mud berth before long to soak up over the winter, and then sail her next season.
Made lots of mistakes so far ... but she is beginning to look a bit like a boat again.
There are another six Kestrels in various states of repair and disrepair within a mile of here ... saw one sailing up the Deben last weekend!
What amazes me is that they are all very different within the basic hull design ... one even has an old inboard diesel.
There's a venerable old carpenter who has a fund of anecdotes about the class who works about the yard occasionally.

Hello there. Although yours is an old message I shall try to make contact anyway as I am about to begin work on a clinker Kestrel. May I ask how far you reached with your project?
Regards. Andy

Carefee sail number 181

hi, i am in the process of completely restoring a kestrel 22,a wooden centreboard sloop (carvel mahogany hull on oak frames) designed by j francis jones, and built by cd pugh of barry south wales. i would like to make contact with any other owners of these yachts, with a view to forming a group/contacts, with the aim of sharing infomation etc. my yacht 'bluebelle' has a sail no 103, and i understand there were over 300 built, mainly clinker hull construction . i wonder if anyone else out there either owns a kestrel 22 or knows of someone who owns one. please get in touch. thanks

Kestrel 22: # 89 CARAWAY 1963

I purchased this yacht about 5 years ago having sat in Halls yard Walton for some 20 years. Restoration is nearly complete and she looks great, Halls did all of the work below waterline - I have done the rest. The original engine (Stuart-Turner 2-stroke) had been removed so aquired s/hand volvo 2001 diesel 9hp.
Have certainly spent far more than budget so she will have to be ouir holiday for the next 50 years!!
This is our first full year on the water and are enjoying her very much
