Wooden boat being saved.

as usual Ken , help is here if you need it and there's room in the barn if you need to put her under cover , or there will be when I get Trevera outside again

took me a while to find the thread though

Thanks Dave. It's great to have her on the drive at home, an hour here and there most days makes it much easier, but I might take you up on that when it comes to painting.
Easy run from your place to Wainfleet where I hope to slip her in, although being lifted straight in at Boston is an option - the fishing boats can lift a ton for the price of a pint!

Well it was plastic or nothing this time around, SWMBO presented me with a son on October 1st so went down the low maintenance line. (Is there such a thing?)Now got to learn about the dreaded polyworm etc etc. Keeps me off street corners though. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmmmm, don't know about that, you might have to tout yourself around the odd street corner to get the wherewithall to keep her going! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Osmosis isn't the most awful problem you can have with plastic, (no boat ever sank because of osmosis) if it's only got a mild dose you can treat it yourself easily enough, does mean drying her out though.

I have to admit, my first love is for wooden boats, (the missus comes a close second) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.............I do have a little project on the go at the moment, but it is likely to be slow, because I have work to do to my Nomad, to get done before next summer.

I may disappear for a while next summer, got a yen to see foriegn parts, missus says she will make sure I get a good send off! (dear of her) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Charlie.

Crikey if touting this old carcass to pay for boat i'd probably be able to buy a cleat. Keeping fingers (and everything else I can think of )crossed at present. Although she is getting on a bit there is no evidence of either wicking or of blistering though I'd imagine she'll be pretty wet at present, the plan to date is to leave her ashore all winter to dry out then give her several coats of V.C Tar, that should keep the water at bay for a few more years. After that it's pretty much a cosmetic job and refit. Not as pretty as some but what the hell, she'll keep me sailing, will try picture, Mike

Nice boat, tiddly crap picture! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Blakes do a cheaper and I think just as effective waterproof underwater primer, an application of tow or three coats would ok I think? good base for your antifouling as well.

Ask Ken for my email address, then you can send me some awfully nice photos of your boat?

Sam and I had a cracking night with them when he introduced us to ice cold Castle bear, went great with the B.B.Q. Stonking good night, though plenty of sore heads the next day. Mike. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

That looks to be a slightly unusual Coromandel. I'm starting to collect some interesting pics for the Corribee website - if you've got a bigger photo and some information (sail no, year, boat name etc etc) and don't mind it being incuded in a gallery on the site I'd very much like to include it, with your permission of course.

Nobody said you were unusual Ken , but .............

Anyway , have you got a launch date in mind , got held up on Miss Ellie this weekend so didn't get as much done as I'd hoped but she's still coming together nicely so it's looking like a launch at Welland Yacht Club rather than a crane in

Good to see some pics now though

Too much time lazing about /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif , so no date yet.

Lots of work done, main job left is the hull, started sanding but a long way to go!

I'll get some more pics taken today and stick them on Botophucket.....
