Woodbridge Tidemill overnight prices high

I find places that charge extra for lecky and water truly objectionable and always avoid going there.

When you book a room in a hotel, you don't expect to have to pay extra when you switch on the light or run a bath.
How is this any different?

I agree with you now we have more power needs, but in our cat we used to be self sufficient power wise and always liked places that charged extra, it meant we saved money as the berthing was cheaper. These days though on a typical cruise we reckon on a ratio of four nights anchor/cheeky buoy to one in a marina so either way it doesn't hurt too much.

All smoke and mirrors - it was not cheaper for you, it was even more expensive for those who needed water/shore power.

Why don't marinas include water and lecky in the price as standard and offer a discount if you don't need any?

So what length boat do you have?

And I'm sorry but if you post inaccurate information got can't complain if you're corrected (eg you claimed St Kats is cheaper than Limehouse, it isn't)

How can you say that the information posted is incorrect? It's based upon an individual's experience and he has then used this to make a comparison with another provider. Nothing wrong with that, surely.

It's no different :-( Excessive charges for wifi are equally irritating.

Most in The Netherlands do its town run marina`s that mostly charge extra even though one is rafted 5 deep
the average berthing in the past 6 weeks has been circa £13 all in & wifi was generally good

Common sense says - Tide Mill is expensive, and they cannot really justify the costs, and facilities are not great. Now that everybody knows, those that care can avoid going in the Tide Mill and make other arrangements. The same principle applies to lots of other places too. The only way anything will improve is if people complain when justified, and then put it on the forum so that people know there was an issue, and why they complained.

I can say his information is incorrect because it is incorrect! Eg he claimed St Kats is cheaper than Limehouse when it isn't

Prices vary widely here in Netherlands too.
between €1 & €1.90.
That's £6.50 to £12. They sometimes charge an extra 50 cents for showers or lecky.
Beer is cheap though.
( Where's the smug git icon?)

The OP was simply questioning what appears to be excessive pricing at The Tidemill. Irrespective of where you wish to take this comment with tangential comments the original question still stands. Why so expensive?

You've missed the point made in my post. He made an observation based upon his experience and a comparison based upon that was made. On the information provided by the OP it would appear that his comparison was correct. It may differ from the reality and the prices shown on various websites but the point stands. Based upon his experience St Kat's is a better deal.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Tidemill are the only full service Marina on the Deben, very little competition. A big thumbs up for Granary Yacht harbour though, well kept secret gem.

These days, with widespread 4G, I find I rarely bother with wifi.

Very true.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

It's difficult to understand because the figures quoted simply do not add up

The OP hasn't come back and told us what size and type of boat he sails / motors either

The OP claimed that St/ Kats has a cheaper weekly rate than Limehouse. This is factually incorrect. End of.

The OP claimed Woodbridge is more expensive than St. Kats. It simply isn't. (I've booked berths at all three marinas and their advertised prices are what they charge)

The OPs pricing claims do not match, by a very wide margin, the advertised prices of St. Kats, Limehouse and Woodbridge

Now why is THAT so difficult to understand?

Being positive the prices didn't noticeably change when the frankly diabolical shower block was replaced with the current one, even if it only open 'office hours'

Set aside your inability to understand a differing point of view and you might understand.

Last month, I spent five nights in the marina in Boulogne. I had full access to water, electricity and showers as well as the club house and other services. I registered at the reception area. The cost of my stay? No charge.

So, based upon this experience, the marina at Boulogne is, possibly, the cheapest in Northern Europe. Almost certainly not the reality but, based upon my account, you have to accept that I may have a point unless you can show that what I have said is incorrect.
