Steve,

Be great to meet you but SWMBO informed me this morning that she want us to see the Rat Pack thats on at Southampton's Mayflower theatre tonight. So unless its sold out I am booked tonight.

SWMBO is going away tomorrow for the weekend (Hence tonight is the only night we can go to the Mayflower). SWMBO is doing a course to overcome fear - Bit ironic as she is frightened of drowning (hates it when the boat heels over but funnily OK in dinghys as we try to race them upright!) and heights. These fears don't really go together when our holidays are skiing and sailing.

I think I owe you a pint or 2 or more!! Assuming I can't make tonite if you are in the area could you make somewhere on Friday night (note from my post above my commute route I can make anywhere along that within reason) or sometime over the weekend. PM me if you prefer.

Good Morning Rick
Very good meet last night, I think it could have been the largest number of peeps yet. Also good to see some new faces from the 'other' side /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Looks like we might have outgrown the venue /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Look forward to May /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yes, good to see new faces - hopefully we weren't too boring for them!

On the subject of the pub - do you think we should give them one more go, or try somewhere else?

Rick

Summer evening BBQ sounds good to me.

You are welcome here as well - if it hasnt been sold!!!

But we should be thinking of somewhere for a more regular meet. Wokingham does seem to be the most central - needs to be somewhere that doesnt charge - like a pub.
Whats the Bull at Barkham like in the evenings these days?
Any other suggestions?

Mike

I like the Bull but it can be quite busy in the evenings (often had to stand for a while until a seat comes free) and they don't seem to want to let you sit on the tables in the "restaurant" section unless you're eating.

Rick

I agree about the Bull at Barkham, it does get busy in the evenings. They do pretty good food and serve from 6pm so the place fills fairly early.
I suppose I should admit that my daughters boyfriend is the chef so maybe thats why its getting busier /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Only suggested the Bull cos it was always busy at lunch times and I thought that the clientel would be different in the evenings.
Cant think of anywhere else that wouldnt be busy.
Had a nice lunch yesterday at Finchampstead Church but the inside is a bit small - outside for the summer is great though.

Mike

I can ask at my local - they seem to section off a bit of their bar for planned events and may be willing to do it for us. The food is pretty good too and its non-smoking throughout already.

Rick

Quite a bit of parking and some overflow behind the little run if shops.

I'll ask next time I'm in and see what they'll do for us.

Rick

The Royal Oak at Poynings is very nice (just got back from dinner there in fact), plenty of parking, nice garden with bbq ... it's just outside Brighton /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers

Mike, lunch at Finchampstead Church /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I guess that was ''The Queens Oak''. Changed hands at the end of last year and I'm told the food has got a lot better.
Your right about the space tho', very small inside.
Good luck with Andrew

Rick I guess that after your efforts to get a venue that would accomadate us all the next 'meet' will be me, you and a couple of others. We would have to spread out to look like a crowd /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I trialled a few at Brighton last weekend - had a very nice pint or three of Harveys in the Lion and Lobster. Was even persuaded to try and Elvis burger too..

Rick

Happy with anywhere/BBQ to throw another one in the pot the Heron on the lake in Fleet isn't bad, loads of parking lots of outside space and not massively busy in the week.. nothing to do with being about 1 minute walk for me /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
