My wife draw my attention to this lovely film lasting twelve minutes from the Wivenhoe forum. It is mainly an interview with Rob Maloney who is the son of a friend of ours and is restoring WODs and other craft in his workshop near the club.

Thanks for that, it brought back happy memories, I used to sail WOD back in the 50's. Elise in those days was owned by Doug Green, a local fishmonger, who married Wendy Carrington from the local chemist.

But why do they have to play music when somebody is talking????

Thanks for posting this! You'll be pleased to hear that it has been viewed in Germany, by an old school friend of my wife, who now lives near Darmstadt. Her father, Stan Croucher, had 'Pegasus' for some years, and Stan's other daughter, Ann, now lives in Australia but her and her husband own 'Dorothy' which they sail when they return to the UK.

My father in law, Ron Hook (former Hon Sec of Wivenhoe SC) owned no 10, 'Brunette', and my wife Adrienne (Ron's daughter) and I won Rowhedge Regatta in her in 1981.

A friend of mine is the daughter of Frank Parsons of Parson Boatyard in Leigh. I have sent her a link to that film as she is keen to find out more of the history.

Parsons also designed and built Tiller Girl now owned by the forumite of that name.

Just to add to the connections, Rob bought our Hurley 22 'Huldra' in June this year and is now sailing her around the local waters. As well as renovating Wivenhoe One Designs Rob also has worked with Malcolm Goodwin (he of multiple Hornet championship fame!) in renovating the larger Brightlingsea One Designs.

I've heard that Rob has been asked to sail with Griff Rhys-Jones somewhere nice. As they say, luck comes to those that deserve it.
