I would like to think so.

just a bit of CDF trumps most.

I still have a reasonable box full of CDF .... but it concerns me when I witness too many moments of 'OMG' 'WTF'!? from people who should know better ..... but I'm sure it has something to do with that 'Blue Suit', 'Box-of-Frogs' and a 'Flip-Flop' ...

Loved it & how true.

Especially the final comment, 'I'm virtually an admiral' - but a word of caution.

Whilst 'guesting' on one of HM capital ships, it was explained to me, 'The Admiral does his best to bougger the skipper's day by demanding the impossible – certainly something that The Admiral could never hope to achieve when he was A Captain' (probably of the very same ship).

Rather reminds me of HID?

No doubt our Dark Blue Brethren will confirm or deride this observation?

ps As a Crab - Wots? CDF

Very true and very funny.

I had a chap on-board recently who asked me what my "policy on lifejackets" was. I told him that my policy was not to fall off the boat.

If you learned at your father's knee & have sailed all of your life, qualifications mean very little.

They just suggest that you reached a certain standard on a particular day - no more & the quality of instruction/assessment is all important.

Nevertheless, exposure to the different courses/exams must increase your knowledge & various to situations.

IPO for those who have not had the benefit of 'father's knee' any sailing course is a good starting point & a lot better than nothing.

You can learn from other sailors but experience as a skipper - provided you survive - is the real instructor & final arbiter.
