I hate UK winters ... I feel colder in UK winter than here - its the wet style of UK that does it ... gets into the bones !

Thank goodness I'm not in the UK, it's been a quite wet year here in Belgium, more than refilled the ground water aquafers.
The last really cold snap we had here was in 2012 when it got to -28°c and it did not feel as cold as it does now, it's the damp conditions we are having

Had B'day celebration and then had a Fireworks display down by the river ....
Static temp -10C ... but it was strong N wind ... causing chill to -20C .... my wind proof lighter refused to light ... two of us were there trying to get fuses lit !!
By time we finished hands were so cold that all feeling had gone ...
Good display though !!
This is the display I did for Xmas evening ... similar ...

High Nigel I always enjoy your photos and stories. Such a different experience to mine. (had to laugh at weather forecaster lady regarding Marble Bar a town in mid west of oz. She said a bit cooler tomorrow only 44 degrees max.) Ejoying summer here enormously with winter just boring with no frosts. Hope you enjoy winter and believe summer is coming for you. ol'will
