Yes , I know its been said already, but a cracking day on Friday. Flat calm and sunny. Haven almost deserted.
'Muda going well and grateful for the blast to clean her bum.

Bad news was a hidden lobster pot line round both drives and props...... the water was bloody cold !!!! at least it was a decent excuse to sample the rum.

I was out today in the Medway and surrounding areas, very cold but flat and calm, lovely to get out on the water though /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I've just come back from a cracking run to Cowes and then down to Hurst. Took Jon Bailey out for a spin. The Solent was falt calm and while a bit overcast was great fun. Here's to winter boating - nobody to get in your way, pubs are empty and no short stay charges. Those who take their boats out are missing soooooo much/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Yes was out again today, this time on a test run from Port Solent on a Targa 28 that my mate is hoping to buy - cold again, but nice to get out two days running.

I have just had a fantastic few days running a dayskipper course out of Hayling Island.
This is the only time of year that it is possible to navigate in a straight line for more than a few hundred metres, without having to tackle the multiple course alterations required to avoid squillions of numptys!
Oh if only the South Coast were this relaxing for the students in the summer...
Free short stays at lunch time, fast service in resturaunts and bars, plenty of empty berths/piles/bouys to play with and no waiting for the fuel bay. Strewth It sounds like heven!

It staggers me why so many boats are ashore at this time of year, so many people missing out on so much fun!

Langstone to Cowes to Yarmouth & back yesterday - brilliant. £3.50 for 4 RIBs to moor on the quay at Yarmouth. Only downside - The King's Head was crowded so we missed lunch.

Can confirm that it was a good trip and most enjoyable. As Solitaire says never anything wrong with the weather, only the clothing you choose to wear. I'm not sure whether or not the reason I felt like the Michelin Man was due to too many clothes, or too much Christmas Pud.

PS I'm nearly a diesel convert now.

Jon,
I don't think you'll need thermals, but sweater and/or windproof jacket are recommended if you are going to do much boating. Although it is getting to 27C by 3.00pm, when the sun starts to go down it feels chilly at speed! I'm going out to dinner in shorts this evening to an open air place, but I'll wear a sweater.
I'll send my details by PM so you can call if you wish and perhaps we can get together. You have to pass Sarasota on the way down, anyway.
