Winter storm this weekend

We were in Gosport Premier last night. It was earily calm, with a huge halo round the moon. Went ashore to eat at Landers - don't bother - but thats another story.

Wind suddenly started to rise at aroudn 4.30 am plus pissing rain. We moved off to pick up our mooring at Hardway at around 10.15, and picked up the mooring - sods law just as the wind picked up to a steady 40 knots. Finally managed it after 3 goes, but got soaked in the process!

Ah that was you then this morning, thought you had a death wish. Wind started in Gosport about 3am according to our neighbours halyards!!

You were right Simon. In this mornings race we had a steady 35 to 40kn over the deck with gusts to 50kn. One boat recorded a gust of over 60kn. And with wind over tide in the Bristol channel it was silly rough.

Chi met Max more or less agrees with our Max - 46Kts whilst underway about 1Nm north of Chimet ...

Down this morning to drop the genoa (too breezy yesterday) ... boat is already for a lift - once a crane driver is available!

now that explains why it was a bit lively on a mooring off Cargreen on Sunday in the early hours of the morning!

At 5 am we finally decided to put oilies on our pyjamas and find a quieter hole to sleep in...

Little Celia (6) was not amused: as we climbed out to teh heaving cockpit, she mutterd from below the duvet; "is this where we die"? Bless her.

By 10 am it was brilliant again. Calm and mild.

had a very nice sail this Saturday did round the NAB tower with nice winds and warm weather. Sunday morning was another story but then we were alreay safe in the marina. :)
