So what is everyone getting up to?

Lady Gay is getting new engines which should be exciting. No more black smoke and perhaps she will turn every now and then!

Took 3 pairs of props to be repaired, one pair were only good for scrap and the other 2 pairs cost £180 to refurbish.

Dunno what to say really - you do know that you're supposed to use the boat where the water is deep enough to stay afloat, don't you? :D

Oldgit is quite a useful point of reference for shallow water cruising ........

Our year started out like that. We went through 3 sets in 3 months.

Must be having a good run at the minute, the set that are on have been on for 5 months and still no dings or bits missing.

Jeepers I'll get my surfboard ready then...

Ha. They will be quiet you won't even hear me go past. And I will probably be on the plane so no wash either. Planing is just a case of having enough power right? ;)

I am sure you could do it if those quad-turbocharged engines of yours ever got out of tickover.

I was planning:

New Water filter after the tank has been sterilised and flushed.

Both engines to be serviced, and prop seals checked/ replaced

Hull polish and antifoul

Topsides polish and Supagard

Artificial teak to be laid to decks

LED lighting to be installed inside, Boeing 747 stylee!

Flybridge drinks chiller to be installed inside rear seat base

Fix stroppy heating.

Not sure how much will really happen, as boat was perfectly usable when lifted anyway....

New 240v wiring and sockets
New 12v wiring and lights
Install new fuel tank and piping
Install new calorifier and piping
Install bath/shower (haven't decided) and sink in the heads
Install radiators in the wheelhouse and back cabin
New deck furniture
5 new planks (20') on the port side

...and then, hopefully, a lift out in the spring. :D

Sounds far too much work....

A sneaky charter in the Caribbean sounds just the ticket to beat the Thames winter blues...:D

Well, I didn't mention the new shower or covers for the superstructure. New staunchions to replace the bodges she came with. Or AIS transceiver and a good plotter. Or a triducer that will now actually measure speed/depth at something approaching the actual speed/depth. NMEA 2000 to replace the NMEA1934 she came with from new....

Oh, and new hatches with armoured glass. In case Jerry comes shooting again in May next year as we approach Dunkirk......

Thanks to Dave from Hutchins Marine (and advice from the forum), I now have two tube heaters permanently installed in the engine space keeping everything nice and warm and ready to go for those crisp clear winter days on the river. Even have a dedicated breaker on the main switchboard for them.

Other things I'd like to do are fit snap davits on the swim platform and on the wish list is to fit a plotter and AIS VHF in anticipation of a Summer cruise out of the Thames and round to the South Coast for a few weeks.

Temporarily leaving boating

Our winter will be searching for a trailer for our Freeman 26. We have decided to bring her out of the water for a couple of years. Boo Hoo
