I don't see many out on the water threads these days so thought I' try and change that.
I take the boat out every few weeks, mostly to keep the engines happy.
We've had between -8 to -13C for the last week or so and this makes for some unexpected challenges.
Today I could not get the mooring lines off, they were frozen really stiff, a bit like a wooden stick. Fixed it by getting a 2 kwh hot air pistol (the kind you use to get paint off) and spent 30 mins melting the ice in the ropes!!
When I came back there was a large buildup of ice on the hull and on the bathing platform, The boat started to look like its been through some ruff stuff
A bit more wind and waves and I would have gotten ice building up on deck.
