My boat has a Volvo 5.7GS 210 hp petrol engine with an DPS outdrive. The fuel tank capacity is 400 l which at present is 7/8 full. Although I intend on using the boat at least once a month during the winter I have not done so since December.

Should I be using a fuel additive?

Is it correct that I should be keeping the tank as full as possible?

Save your money ...

Best you can do IMHO is to drain of any condensation / water that collects in tank. If you have a fuel / water separator in the line - then good - just keep an eye on it.

Winter - with lower ambient temps - you get a lot of condensation collecting in the tanks ...

Well you are supposed to leave diesel tanks full to stop condensation and petrol tanks empty because it will go off. But basicaly don't worry too much about it, petrol additives a waste of money, best additive for old petrol is fresh petrol /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

no, you dont need any additive, and no, you dont need to keep the tank full.
Both of these apply to diesel only.
