I replaced the windscreen on Cuchilo a few years ago but it has clouded up again so its time for a new one . Last time i went for the £50 option that was easy to bend ( Polyplex or something like that ) but i dont want to be replacing it again so what perspex material do i need to use that wont haze up after a few years ?

Assuming it's flat why not get a glass one cut and toughened at a local glass works. They can drill all the holes you need before toughening. As an alternative, all as above but laminated. At least it won't scratch or fade or bloom! Otherwise you might still be able to order one curved but it would be fairly expensive. For plastic, I suppose "Lexan " polycarbonate would be best. Visijar Laboratories in Croydon off the Purley Way on the old Airport estate used to do it if they are still there. You can cut that with a slow cutting jigsaw.

Its the curved type of screen so glass is out . There must be someone still making them as so many older boats have this type of screen .

EDIT
This is the type of screen

The screen on that boat is god knows how old and as clear as glass .

I made a similar screen many years ago out of rigid perspex, I heated the ends up in Mum's oven to soften them and bent them to the curve over mutton cloth on a frame. Hell of a job but once cooled was fine. Don't know if you could bend Lexan that way but presumably can. BTW nice wooden boat, must be old as it has a tumblehome aft.

Late 50's - early 60's . Thread here
I think i will try the place i got the last screen from . I remember him sucking his teeth last time i asked for the proper stuff /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Before you get carried away with replacement, get some brasso and polish the screen inside and out, finish the polishing with goddards or similar, you will be aqmazed by the results.
We used to polish the "bubbles" on sioux helicopters with goddards, when they started to go hazy, wonderful results.
