Hi
Does anyone know of a source (other then hrparts.com) for sections of windscreen extrusions.

I suspect that the existing glazing can be reused if I can find a source for the extrusion even if it is slightly different in section.

Regards
Tony.

Do you mean the extrusion which fixes the screen to the boat (which HRparts supply) or the actual extrusion which surrounds the glass?

The fixing extrusion tends to corrode (I've replaced mine), but the windows themselves seem to resist corrosion fairly well.

I mean the extrusion itself, mine was in the med for years and suffered corrosion to a fairly major degree around s/s fittings and screws that were added to hold the edge of a canopy.

OK, well it's just a U-shaped extrusion with a rubber insert. Theoretically, it should be possible to match it. Have you asked HR Parts? They're very helpful and found some original pattern deck cleats for me (supposedly unobtainable).

Am looking for an alternative source as per original post, but thanks...

You'll probably have to source the aluminium extrusion separately from the rubber moulding. For the former try (in the US) http://www.extrude-a-trim.com/
who have an extremely good reputation for stock-holding.
In the UK try www.aalco.co.uk/products/aluminium.aspx
Like most UK firms they have an aversion to e-mail transactions so it's best to call in person on a local depot.
As to rubber mouldings, a quick look in Yellow Pages or googling should find you one in your locality, they're commonplace in those areas where we still have some engineering industry - as most of the ones I know are in the W Midlands this might not suit you.

If you the strip under your windscreen remains on the to do list, I strongly recommend a rethink on sourcing from HR-Parts. I replaced this strip on my boat in August. The job was not easy to do and allows little margin for error. The aluminium strip, screws, important anti-corrosion washers and seal strip were not expensive. I live near Kinsale and could share my experience of fitting.

I know your post is old but hoping you can pick this up. What was "not expensive"? I was just quoted Pnds 1900 for everything except glass for a Malo 39 which I guess is a similar size. This was way more than I expect for some aluminium section, rubber, glue and fixing. Would appreciate your comments.
