I have had this lighter for the best part of eighteen years.

I guess that there are newer/better ones around for tough outdoor use, as a lighter of last resort. It has to work when called upon.

Any recommendations please ?

(I do not want one with a battery. Piezo is OK, though). Amazon has pages full, but I am after a personal recommendation.

TIA

watching with interest.
My current one is a gas insert for the Zippo but need something a bit more ’solid’.

I once bought the "Ancor" lighter, probably because of US law it is so full of "safety features" (locks, safety lid, foolproof push buttons etc) it has quickly become useless.
I now buy those Chinese refillable torch lighters that are 3-4-5euro at the average tobacconist, they last a few years; the most recent ones have a double flame, one can easily melt the end of a 30mm rope :)
