Does anyone have any experience/recommendations for Windows Mobile chart software? I've just got an HTC HD2 mobile phone, with an absolutely enormous touch screen, and I was wondering if I could get chart plotter capabilities on it. It has built-in compass and GPS, and plenty of memory space available.

This is NOT a "must have" for this gadget - it's a "nice to have", so low cost or free options are my main interest!!

If you have access to Garmin blucharts, then Garmin's 'Que' program will run on windows mobile. It is designed to run on Garmin only devices, but 'GPSProxy' will convert the data/settings as needed.

Memory Map (circa £40) with Maptech (Admiralty) raster charts (UK and Ireland £90).

Works well on a Dell Axim 51v with a small(ish) touch screen. Reduces the running up and down stairs to see the laptop ;)

Memory Map and Maptech charts work- I use this on my MDA phone with built in GPS. You do need to purchase Memory Map for the PDA capable software- load it onto the laptop or PC and transfer to the mobile phone via cable ofr bluetooth. I purchased Maptech Solent charts in 2006 but I think Maptech now do the whole of the UK and Chartnavigator bundled for about £95 and Memory Map with the Pocket Navigator software to allow use with a phone or PDA for about £30.

Snap!

I use both on my iPac 6910 for different purposes.

The latter is particularly good with OS maps and I have copied and converted charts to use with it.

Have fun

Yoty

I just had a go at loading Quo, and it doesn't seem to work on the HD2. The web-site is remarkably short on proper technical information, like what OS and/or devices it is supported on. I got it running on a PC and it looks useful there.

Thanks

(Later) OK, sorted it! It doesn't seem very "Yottie", but as you say, it works OK.
