Window for moving West!

We've never been in Oranjeplaats. Been in De Omloop next door several times.
I'd recommend a walk to the airfield. If the owner is there he might let you walk round his hangars which are full of interesting stuff.

And at 22:00 tonight all went calm here in Brighton so the play starts again, seems a long time ago I dud a oassage plan.

Hope the same has happened else where, Col.

Johnalison - looks like you are holed up in Harlingen - I hope you have better luck there than last time!
We are also stuck, but in Kragenaes on Lolland in Denmark, with no great hopes of moving before Friday or Saturday. Strong west winds for everyone!

Yes. I've been marching Ali up and down the road where she fell and broke a wrist two yrs ago. I've only recorded 28kn wind today, but with trees and house around that's more than enough. I've tried beating my way down the Ijselmeer more than once and I can't be bothered to do it again. Tomorrow looks possible but we might wait for a lazy day on Friday. The trouble is that every time we poke our noses out of the cockpit tent it chucks bucket-loads of rain down at us.

It's not all bad though. They've just boosted the wifi, and I had 300g of sliptong & chips for e14.95. I haven't had good enough wifi to trace your whereabouts but things should improve now.

I have not been keeping up with this thread but last Friday I sailed singlehanded from Chatham to Burnham on my Westerly Fulmar and enjoyed myself. It was the first sail of the season due to major renovations. Did I care, no as I managed to hit 8 knots at 60 degress off with full sail. Then on Sunday I returned to Chatham. It started out at 14 knots true and kept increasing. Started with a single reef and 4 rolls in the genoa and broad reaching out of the Crouch the wind rose to 28 knots, gusting 33 knots. Concerto lifted her skirts and was hitting over 9 knots and a peak speed of 10.2 knots. Before Whittaker I took another reef and reduce the genoa down to about 60% area for the beat down the Swin. Port tack was the making leg with only short starboard legs to get to Sheerness. The wind was in the mid 20's to low 30's all the way, but progress was fairly swift at 6.5 to 7 knots at 40 to 45 degrees off. It really felt like a blast and I wondered why there was no one going my way and only 3 yachts sailing the other way. Now I know, you all stayed in harbour. Nearly forgot to mention the auto pilot packed up on the way home as well, so no breaks for me.

I did take a couple of short videos on Friday which you might enjoy.

We are having a thunder storm & heavy rain here in Vlissengen at the mo, fair tipping down it is
Oh and very loud music in the town ( i use the word very loosely ) until 02.30 this morning. we are in the WSV Schelde too so not even that close

Sunshine and light winds at last on the East Coast, heading back up to the Orwell today.

Been a gaggle of MOBOs stuck in Middleberg the last few days.

Trust you are having an enjoyable time SM despite the weather.

Have had a 'local' 10 days or so.

Burnham, Heybridge, Bradwell, Tollesbury given the wind so nothing earth shattering. It was good to catch up with some friends who had a sickly cat which needed to be aboard their ship so made the continent a no no. As we don't see much of them now we had a local catch up which was most enjoyable.

Never got the Vlissingen thunderstorm and it has been quite a fine day, but still windy. I forced A to go to sea after four days doing nothing in the rain and we had a very quick trip round from Harlingen to Makkum. Almost straight through both locks and no more than 25kn wind down the watt. This should make it possible for us to get to the Amsterdam area by tomorrow. I don't see anything too alarming in the weather line for the next week, and even a couple of days of easterlies. We are starting to think of home after nearly three months away.
