Thought I would mention how great my wind scoop has been (and slip in a couple of questions!!)
I purchased my scoop last month and took it to the boat (which is Sardinia based)
three weeks ago when the temperatures were in the 30s.
It worked really well even a light breeze was sufficient to bring cooling air from the forward hatch through the boat and even made the ( centre ) cockpit more pleasant.
Well worth the £20 and folds away to nothing for storage.
Now the questions....
My scoop has three fitting points, the top and 2 corners. when I fit it as designed there is a gap between the bottom of the scoop and the hatch, my instinkt is to think that some of the breeze from the scoop escapes via this gap but possibly this is a cunning design feature and that there is some ‘scientific’( aerodynamic) reason for the gap. Can anyone advise on this, I will try to send a photo if this is essential!!
The scoop is so effective that I wonder if those horn shaped vents would also be wort considering, there is one that you can remove when sailing. I think they could be used to either ‘collect’ air ( like a small scoop) or be turned round so as to draw out/through air on the venturi principle. Has anyone used these types of vent?
