Hey guys can I get your opinion on this..

I've just taken delivery of a Rutland 913.

I'm concerned now though, that it will be just too much weight.
My boat is only 23', but built for cruising, full keel , steel and not a lightweight, she is 3.5 tons.
I happen to know she did have an Aero2gen installed before which weighed about 5kg. The Rutland is about 10kg.
Any thoughts? I don't want to topple over you know but.. I also need a generator that supplies power needed for living aboard.

Any opinions appreciated!
 
Yeh I did look at that hybrid one, but didn't want the hassle of having to keep deploying it in differant modes all the time..
 
Don't bother to buy the bits to convert, just get the underwater part and consider that you will get at least 1 amp whilst riding at anchor in a 2 knot tide and obviously more when cruising.

Tidal waters are not to be sniffed at plus the fact that it will not fall onto the cockpit can is far less visually intrusive and as a consequence of that, less likely to be stolen. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
10kg, that's 20 lbs or so. How much do you weigh?
Have you ever tried to pull on a halliard from the shore to get the top of the mast (careening) I bet you can't...
Just try it and see.
 
Hmm.. lenseman, I see where you're coming from. I've already paid for this one now though..
I just worked out at max it's about 15lb more than was up there before.. I suppose that's not much in the scheme of things.. I'll just have to keep it as low as possible.
When I pulled it out of the box and felt the weight I had visions of knockdowns and staying downs..
Think I'll just shut up now and have a drink..!
