'Trade and Industry Secretary Patricia Hewitt will announce the leasing of large areas of the seabed around the North West coast, the Wash and the Thames Estuary for companies to build wind turbines. '

They're talking about thousands of the things - great for the environment, but I wonder what sort of area they're talking about?

Blimey! You can't win. The Environmentalists are against Coal, Oil and Nuclear. They will now whinge at Wind & Tide technology. My only reservation is that Wind Farms ought to be situated well away from housing as the noise can be horrific. If they're using Syd on non-windy days then it will be even worse.

as long as they are sensibly located I think they are great! Untill recently I lived quite close to 40 of the beasts in Scotland (on land ones), they are a very eirie sight but kinda cool! As for the noise...I never noticed that much even on very windy days, unless ofcourse you are standing right by them.

Could be interesting for those of us in small boats and raggies, we'll either get blown along at 45knots or sucked in and chopped up if we get to close depending on what side of the blades you go!!!!
