Hi guys

I'm helping OnboardOnline.com, a new online portal for yacht crew, with their social media and have just launched a competition on Facebook.

You can win a GoPro camera on their page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/OnboardOnlinecom/543213379037293?sk=app_208585222608866

GoPro cameras are extremely versatile, waterproof and you can get all sorts of mounts for them - so they lend themselves well to taking footage on boats etc. There are loads of awesome videos uploaded to YouTube from people playing around with them on yachts, here's are a couple of cool ones I found:

Anyway - good luck!

Oh dear. First video ... ''Not available on this platform'' ...iPad.

Dylan had the same problem with his videos a few days ago :(

Thought it was something to do with the music rights.

Are you trying to enter via an iPad? Unfortunately Facebook apps/tabs (which is what the competition is run through) aren't accessible via mobile devices, which is why you're getting a blank space.

Nope. I won't be herded sheeplike for someone's commercial venture.

is there a tiny teeny trace of an element of competition for the same target markets between OnboardOnline and the IPC/YBW websites ?

Perhaps Ms Shirley Anne Watson, formerly a director/secretary of Bodifax Ltd , Gymconsult Ltd, and 17 Calthorpe Road Ltd, and currently the sole director of OO, might care to advise ?

I don't see one to speak of - YBW sell boating magazines and have a brokerage site, OO don't do either ?

Don't understand what you're insinuating here ? If OO has only one director atm, so what ? If that director is on their 4th company, again, not unusual, so what ?

Wow, the hostility! It's a competition, guys, with currently a pretty damn good chance of winning. If you don't want to enter, don't enter, no need for so much negativity.

There is a picture in an album that says you just need to Like the page, is this correct? That bit is visible on an iPad.

Yes, this photo will be visible on iPad but not the actual competition mechanism. You indeed need to like the page in order to bring up the entry form, via the competition tab/app that is unfortunately not available on mobile devices.

Target market is very different between YBW and OnboardOnline; OO is for super yacht crew worldwide. I've in fact been in touch with a few IPC publications to see if they'd like to mention the competition which is of potential interest to their readers, and have had nothing but positive response so far.

I disagree that this thread doesn't need any negativity. I believe it benefits from it.

The first video just convinced me that I don't really want a GoPro. The distortion is horrible.

It's shot with a fisheye. If you chose a different mode. It's less fisheyed. It's the camera Top Gear uses for the seemingly impossible shots.
