Who changed all the pies! Fray Bentos is to redesign its iconic metal tins after half a century because millennials don't know how to open them
Fray Bentos is to redesign its pie in a can as the metal is too thick to cut through?

Ring pull? Maybe add Meat!?:encouragement:

They need to redesign the pies first. Years ago their steak & kidney puddings were nice, but the last one I tried was very poor and contained only a small amount of gristly meat.

I believe there was a proposal among the Golden Globe Race supporters to insist on competitors carrying foodstuffs available 50 years ago, and not modern freeze-dried 'astronaut' packets. There were murmerings of approval, initially, until the gastronomes among the Gauls realised what an 'FB Pie' actually was.

That's a sad comedown from the days when they used to contain large amounts of gristly meat.

I guess the old ones will become collector's items on the For Sale forum.

puts me in mind of a favourite staple of the old army rations, "babys heads" - they were a stunning little steak and kidney pudding in a can, almost as good cold as piping hot.

Fray Bentos tins are perfect to have on the bench for keeping small parts together or cleaning and degreasing. You sometimes have to remove a few sharp edges, depending on your tin opener. If they have a ring pull this might not be necessary!

I’ve searched high and low for babies heads! No luck in finding them or anything close but I do have a recipe for a close substitute for another rat pack favourite - Oatmeal Blocks. mmmmmmmmm..

oatmeal blocks, good stuff. Biscuits AB brown... nasty. i seem to remember babies heads were in a normal shaped tin not a shaped one like the fray bentos.
