Will Sikaflex stick to epoxy gelshield

Hi Folks,

Will Sikaflex stick to a gelshield epoxy coating or would it be best to prime the gelshield with Primacon or similar first.

Well it sticks to epoxy so should be no problem.

Sikaflexed the skin fittings after 4 coats of Gelshield 2000. Boat still afloat!

There may be some info in the Sikaflex Marine handbook

Id think direct to the Gelshield would be preferable to sticking it to a paint coating such as Primocon.

For a structural bond then you may need to use a Sikaflex primer, but see the manual

As VicS says. If you are talking of a sealant for e.g. skin fittings then Sikaflex alone will be perfectly OK. My hull is gelshielded and has had skin fittings replaced using Sikaflex for many years now.
