I would hope that the various harbour commissioners along the coast will be very aware of our economic woes and think of some decent enticements to get us all to keep going to their respective locations this coming season. So, rather than banging on the hull side and demanding £20 for the buoy for the night or £10 to drop the hook what about some "3 for the price of 2" offers or something similar. Has anybody heard of any location making such offers? Without such enticements I think this will be the summer of using the hook only and being self sufficient and passing no money at all to the harbour authorities and the attendant shoreside facilities. I think that if I owned a pub or a restaurant in these places I'd be lobbying the harbourmaster now to make sure that the yotties keep coming this year of all years.
I see Fowey Harbour commissioners are making a start here:

with a "stay three in August and get one free in September" - which is a start but I'd hope that it could be pay for two and get three in any month.
