Anyone recommend a particular make/model for use with a Netbook?
Thanks in advance for any useful info.

Two options Expensive like 1500 pounds or just the same for 100 or less. It's from an earlier post. Small USB wifi units are all pretty average get a directional one apposed to an omnipresent antenna an American in Gibraltar had one that worked well for him 3weeks ago but seriously consider installing the 100gbp wifi stock products

Cheers james

I agree this is an excellent piece of kit and indeed I looked at it whilst considering onboard wifi options however after discovering that its just a rebranded Ubiquiti Bullet (http://www.ubnt.com/bullet) I opted to purchase the individual components myself and I recall I made a large saving over this packaged product (not that I can find the price of the RogueWave unit at the moment!).

Having used the setup on a 3 week trip this year and on various others since the start of the season I'm very pleased with my setup of:

Ubiquity Bullet 2HP (£64.29)
EnGenius 8db Omni Antenna (£30.41)
12v PoE Adaptor (£4.78)
plus some cat5 cables of suitable lengths to link it together although if going for a permanant install I'd go for the Tough Cable.

Total cost excluding cabling and mounts (if needed, i just haul it up under the spreader) approx £100 + delivery

(No connection with them, but prices taken from www.wifi-stock.co.uk)

Yes I've searched previous threads and gone for an Alfa with a 9dbi aerial and a usb cable extender, all from Amazon for about £40. It won't pick up signals from miles away but will more than likely be adequate for you in UK. Very simple plug & play...

Ubiquity Bullet 2 - 3 miles plus with a good antenna like the enGenius 8db outdoor.

Totally agree BUT it is dependnt on transmitted signal strength and suitable aerial.
A bullet starts at about £35 dependant on model-aerials about the same.

We use a bear extender 35 pounds ish. Simple plug & play, even my technically inepy partner can use it. Only accessories needed are a USB extension lead to allow higher mounting, pack only contains 1/2m lead.
