Why are some owners so protective about their boats.Its a glorified jigsaw of bits and pieces assembled in a big shed by people who would probably prefer to be somewhere else with secure future and paid properly into the bargain.
It used to be Sealine owners who had a hissy fit everytime somebody pulled their chain now it appears the mantle has passed on.
Take the mick out of a Broom owner and he will smile and go back to pondering which wash cycle is best for his net curtains,do the same for some other marques .....all bets are off.
Perhaps its just sports boats owners .?
Can remember commenting on a post here a few seasons ago,when a chap who had had his sports boat bashed by somebody, wanted to know if he could claim further damages,not only because of the loss of use while being repaired but for the loss of face for driving a bashed boat while waiting for repair,
Anybody prepared to start a of list boats that will earn you some flack if you take the mick.... :):)

Oi, what's wrong with my net curtains?! Completely unsubstantiated opinion that will irreversibly tarnish the reputation of my make of boat. I am outraged! :) :) :) :)

I am sure he'd be delighted if you told him that you admired his choice of car, one that is designed and built in a country obsessed with safety. And he'd be more than happy to take you for a test drive and advise you on how to acquire one yourself, go on tell him...
 
I think if you made a choice in any product, boats being a good example to the time and cost invested but also the enjoyment you know yours gives you. So for someone to say what a bad choice I made based on their own prejudice or lack of experience or knowledge, I can find insulting as it's almost saying all my efforts in deciding what to buy in the first place and the efforts involved keeping it are somehow mis-guided. :) Smiley added to show I'm getting used too it a lot more :D
 
I happen to like the Teal, Grey and Black striped colour schemes of the 90's American Formula. I predict it will make a comeback and be the envy of all, so no way am I changing my matching floral chinz curtains and green carpets. You cant knock that kind of flair! I also didn't pay so much for the old barge that I have to stick my head in the sand over her gremlins. She floats, she goes, we have fun, and I don't get to throw wobblies when the kids spill their soda pop all over her
 
If you make comment about a a chaps car/wife/mental capacity you do not appear to get the same reaction as to when you suggest his boat is not the best possible example of the genre.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or to put it another way, The features that make you think a given boat is best , may not be the same features that others are looking for in a boat.

There is no 'best boat' , just the best boat for you.
 
I suppose any 'new to the owner' boat and very especially a ''New' new to the owner' boat !

I met one such ''New' new to the owner' when my doggies do do met said owners new new fenders at Lymington Town Quay one fine morning. I was rinsing off a wayward turd, when it decided it liked the look of the new boat and tried to get aboard, via his brand new fenders.

After cleaning said fender I decided to forego the bacon butty that morning ! (and slipped sharpish)
