Hi Suzanne!

"Quaver" is a pretty fast and powerful boat and (must be 40+feet in length,) as the periodic skipper of her why are you on a course for "power boat instructor"? is it just to get the piece of paper?or some other reason.

The course that im studying requires me to do 1 year of practical, e.g. an RYA course. I had the chance to do the sailing levels, but i really liked the thought of whizzing around in big RIBs on a Friday morning - by the way found that is best cure for hangover.

Was told that I was too experienced to do Level 2 and that i should do Instructors. At the end of the day I'll be able to teach people how to use a boat properly!

I think at the end of the day were all going to have to agree to disagree, i believe that whatever type of boat your on, wherever you cruise, all crew (and skipper) should know how to throw a rope and tie up a boat securely. I learnt on the Thames and still need what i learnt on the sea! Your probably know where im coming from if you've ever heard my Dad's views on throwing a rope.

I see "Neighbour" has asked for your boat profile to be included in your details why dont you Fill them in! it may surprise a few? Oh! I also agree with your last post, crew should know how to throw a rope. Skipper should make sure that they do but, who was really the skipper at the time, just as, I guess that you didnt go through all the safety proceedures, where the flares were and how to operate the life raft, the emergency radio proceedures etc, etc, (Figurativly it was you, but was it really? with the instructor breathing down your neck, and supplying the crew, he probably covered all that to save time, upon boarding the vessel?)did he or she? I guess that it won`t happen again though!
