I think when they introduced it in the fall of 2009 Wally was trying to sell the project. It is IMO a very interesting design but will be hard to find a berth with all that beam. Rumour has it that Roberto Cavalli is among those very interested for it, but his Baglietto is not for sale. So I guess is just an interest....

There was an article about it in MBY recently (in custom yachting pages). It seems the idea is that it can anchor out in virtually any conditions, as the beam is so wide it doesn't roll. I can't imagine what the wake will be like even at low speed, as it has to move all that water out the way

.... IMHO the one word that does come to mind is....why?

I can see strange beauty in concept boats like;

..or mad reality like..:

But boats like this wally the OP mentioned and the likes of this are just abominations IMHO...

I still think if you want to stand out in the crowd in MC then I go back to my raggie routes and would go for this..

We will only see one when the next Bond film gets to the cinema. Every supervillain needs a yacht as well as an underground base complex. If the yacht is large enough for an onboard monorail then so much the better!

Ah but, Mr B has built a full size plywood mock up of WHY, indoors in a massive shed, that you can see and walk around now. Also available to rent as a prop for next bond film, I expect. A friend has seen the mock-up and tells me it is stunning; he got an invite as he is negotiating to buy a Wally and I'm on a test sail with him a week on Sunday. :-)
