Why just look at an aquarium, ...

MapisM, I've told you previously about these upsetting images, I hope someone at IPC towers see these posts and understand how obviously distressing they will be for the majority of their loyal UK residents and put a stop to them, its a disgrace .I hope you feel guilty ;):D

Great, just let me know when!
I'm afraid I can't offer onboard overnighting in the next weeks, 'cause I'll have other friends coming.
But if you wish to spend a few days around here, there are some nice hotels, and we can surely arrange some daily cruises together.
All the places in the video are within easy reach from my marina. :)

Great movie MapisM. I will have to get myself down to S. Sardinia one of these days (2012). And ask you for a list of nice anchorages. I just finally got around to getting scuba gear on the boat too.

What sea water temperatures do you have on the surface? Mistral has been blowing hard now for over a week and SofF (and I suspect Corsica and maybe Menorca too) has dropped from 27deg to 22-23 in about 10 days. Brrrrr! I hope you're escaping that effect down in Sardinia. Keep posting the movies!

Being boatless and the season's first dive planned for thu I fully concur with Fireflys view on this disgraceful post...

I found the part at 2:45 especially disturbing...

Could we please have some more of the same??? Please, Sir... :D :D :D

Thanks folks, I'm glad you appreciated.
Goes without saying that the tour offer is extended to anyone sharing the distress with Firefly... :D

More than glad also to introduce anyone to local anchorages and nice snorkeling/diving spots, of course.
Btw, if other Med forumites would be interested to join jfm in his 2012 plans, we could arrange a sort of forum meeting!

PS: yep J, the mistral reached also this latitude.
In fact, I took the opportunity of a quiet day in the marina to assemble some pics and video which were actually taken some days ago.
Temperature didn't drop that much though, just perfect to make A/C useless... Which I like, whenever possible! :)

Solent 17deg...that's Brrrrrr!! 22-23, that's a bath! :D

very kind MapisM...what a gentleman, maybe one day.

I am away for 2 weeks on the boat starting this next weekend, my aim is to take some pictures that , in a very differnent way will show off our South Coast..

I hope IPC don't ban you afterall! :D;)

haven't seen the video yet, data connection speed....
but I assume it is as boaring as my previous 890 dives :D (not)

I 'm willing to plan some time in Sardegna next year
but in stead of the diving, can we concentrate on local food and drinks ?

now I am shy to say that we had an eye on Croatia for next year :o

Wow, welcome to the club!
Did you join recently? I seem to recall that you didn't dive, the last time we met - though maybe I'm just confusing with someone else.
Anyway, if you wish to experience an absolutely unique dive, surrounded by hundreds (and I mean it!) of huge red tunas, just schedule your trip to S Sardinia next year between mid of May and mid of June, and we'll go for it!

PS: just for the records, all the places in the above clip were filmed during plain vanilla snorkeling tours.
Quite often, it's an 80/20 thing between snorkeling and diving, imho: you can see 80% of what is worth seeing without bothering with 100% of the scuba gear hassle.
The "tonnara" dive is an exception, though - and there are others, of course.

!!! I have PADI open water ticket and have logged about 20 dives.

just what I thought, a real novice then :D

well done John, I'm sure the gear and the ticket will be handy,
even if it is only to do some inspection / cleaning on the boat...

I'm thinking of skipping my dive sharter plans for the future, but place 2 sets of scuba gear permanently on the boat, for occasional use.

...when you can swim in it?!

indeed christal clear water there,
can you point us where it is approx
I forgot the area where you are
so that I can start my fuel calculations :)

have you considered a "red" filter on your camera,
in most occasions (not too shallow) it is a improvement for the collors,
the "Sony" filter is remarkebly better then any other

That's easy Bart: from where you are, just head towards Tunisia.
I'm right along that route, just 120NM or so before the African coast...! :)

Re. filters, yep, I'm aware that those clips are a tad blueish.
But they're actually taken with a camera, which I mostly use for shooting pics in RAW format.
This allows a very very effective post-process for the correction of the blue dominant. I prefer this method to using red filters, though the other side of the coin is that videos remain unadjusted. I've yet to find an easy way to put/remove filters inside the u/w case while swimming! :D
Btw, if anyone is aware of a SW tool which allows effective colour corrections on videos during post-processing, I'm all ears.

Anyway, just to give an idea of some pics originally taken with no filter, no flash and 30 metres or so of water on top filtering the daylight, below are a couple of examples.
I'm afraid I didn't keep the originals, but you would have never believed how blueish they were, before post-processing.

M, I think most video editing programs can do color corrections. I'm using Corel's VideoStudio (for it's ability to smart render AVCHD vids) and it has the ability to tweak Hue/Saturation. I'm pretty sure Adobe's Premiere Elements can do that too. I'll have to check.

Edit: Premiere Elements has a channel mixer for this.

Lovely pics, btw.
