Why is everyone running down the boat show?

From an exhibitors point of view (which I am!) I find the new show at Excel a little dull compared with Earls Court. I am in the business of selling bareboat yacht charters in Greece, and Earls Court seemed to make that easier - there was more of an atmosphere - possibly because the exhibitors were centered around the "show".

In Excel there is no "central point" - even the Guinness tent has been relegated to a far corner!

Was there enough "show" to keep kids entertained? Apart from the indoor water events (in another hall far away...) there was very little laid on by the organisors.

My final gripe is the cost of exhibiting at a show at Excel. Putting staff up in a hotel which charges "special boat show prices" (which are actually higher than normal rates!), transport costs and expensive daily eating costs you need a far better attendence than experienced this year to make it financially worth while.

I think the Earls Court show was better for people new to the sport(?) and families, whereas the Excel show is better for seasoned boat people who know what they want/are looking for.

Roll on next year...
