Did you join the Menton/Monton pronunciation debate? I like to hear how someone starts and then take the opposite point of view. Mind you this is mainly with opinionated English. French are much more relaxed.
I was too in awe of the town!! But I would go Monton haha.

Popped into Beaulieu for a lift and scrub - very nice place, had not been before.

What have they done to shop fronts facing the port……looks awful, lost all its character.

Following the end of the previous concession and the transfer of management of the port to Nice Metropole, they embarked on a major renovation project. In 2021/22, all of the shops and offices near the capitainerie were refurbished. Over the winter of 2022/23, the restaurants were demolished and rebuilt with larger exterior terraces and new rooftop terraces. Through the winter of 2023/24, the offices and workshops of the Monaco Marine shipyard will be rebuilt and the roads and landscaping in the rest of the port completed. There have been rumours about possible investment in port infrastructure and maybe reconfiguring the layout to create easier access and more spaces for larger boats. However, given the large number of small boats (many owned by local residents and voters) that would need to be displaced to achieve this, it's a political hot potato and so far no firm announcements.

There are definitely mixed feelings amongst local residents and boat owners about the renovations. The port was looking a little tired and it's nice to have a refreshed appearance, more pedestrian areas and some good new restaurants. However, much of the old character has been lost and at the moment everything looks a bit the same and a little sterile, although I'm sure that will change with time. The changes have also resulted in considerably more day traffic ... new tourism activities in the port (boat rentals, etc.), more people at the restaurants and on the beach ... and much more vehicle traffic. With less parking available, this means that weekends and August holidays have become even more chaotic.

I had dinner there recently - I thought the work done was an excellent improvement.

On a similar topic, the knock down and complete rebuild of a big chunk of Antibes town centre just north of the post office is now finished, and looks amazingly good in my view. Really big improvement to the town imho.

Our berth isn’t near the restaurants, but I think having your bot there and living through the renovations wouldn’t have been much fun.

We like the changes. The roof terraces are a great addition and the new restaurants a welcome addition. With time they will achieve more individualism.

There is also a new wine bar/shop near the Indian restaurant.

Looks like a mistral might stop the weekend plans of St Tropez, but have a back up for the following weekend anyway.

We’ve decided not to go to Corsica and meet up with some friends in st tropez !

weather forecast is changing daily but Saturday and Sunday night seem to be the worst weather wise.

I was going to mention the nails when I posted, but I thought I'd leave that honour to some wise guy 😎😉
A few years ago my mate Edd fell asleep in the cockpit right in everyone’s way. So my daughter decided to teach him a lesson. Aided by my wife they pained his toenails pink.
was he annoyed. I would say he was, especially as he did not notice until we all woke him up to go ashore & made him hurry. He was walking along the seafront in bare feet with lovely nails 😂😂😂😂😂
