Why don't yachts have foghorns?

I have one of the "Ecoblast" rechargeable air horns. I consider using an aerosol can based thing which might only last a relatively short period questionable if running into fog, say, in the Channel. It claims to make 110dB, which I can imagine it might in short bursts (though it seems to run out of puff a bit for longer hoots, so I'm not sure that a strictly reg compliant - . . would be plausible). It claims to be compliant to various standards, though I've not looked into it.

By JD's 42dB attenuation metric, this gives me about 62dB on the bridge (minus the attenuation through the bridge walls etc). A quick Google suggests this is about the same level as an air conditioner, so I have minimal confidence that any typical watch keeper would notice. I must confess that I have only encountered fog once in properly open water, only in shortish patches, and did not make sound signals at quite the required interval, albeit in deathly quiet waters. I was under sail, so fancied I would be better off listening for engines and other sound signals without deafening myself as frequently as every 2 minutes than relying on a prospective watch keeper's attention...

I have used the horn on a few occasions in Chichester Harbour, and increasingly have it ready in summertime when beating in my smallish boat. The brass nerve of some XODs I encountered who seemed to think that the colregs did not apply to them (I suspect they were racers) was too much for me, and I tacked away; ever since, when beating with lots of other Solent sailors around, I am ready and waiting to give my five hoots. I have done so with effect on a couple of occasions, and find I can stand on as I should be able to much more frequently...
 
I know a larger sailing vessel that installed the fog horn of a big container ship. Sends a clear message to get out of the way. You don't want to stand underneath it when it goes off. Highly effective.
 
I often thought that if I were to go on a long solo passage I would use the time to learn a musical instrument. I would choose a trombone which does not requuire the sama digital dexterity as other instruments.

And you have your foghorn as well.
