There’s no way a company is going to pay for that many survival suits and then pay to have someone check them every month! Imagine taking out hundreds of suits waxing the zip, checking the light, looking for rips and folding them all back away. That’s a good days work! Checking the crew ones will take a morning and that’s without pressure testing. The move now on passenger ships is towards large systems that allow passengers to board the life rafts directly without touching the water. Dry people = higher survival rate.
