Are you sure your Adrian? I'm gettin' bit worried about you two/three! You don't mention Pantaenius, I have found them excellent, I know a few people who have had claims, they were dealy with very promptly and without quibble, I have a travelmedical policy with them aswell, when I was taken ill last christmas (no! not hung over Haydn) They performed excellanely, taking care of all the money aspect of it, all I had to do was sign a form, didn't even have to put a claim in, they did it all direct, I like that kind of service. The cklaims I've seen for boats, ranged from 500 quids to 9000 quids, all without quibble. They may now be a little expensive after 11/11 but I have yet to reach renewal.

Well I use St Margrets and there absolutley brilliant at colecting the money in. Never tried to get them to pay any out though, so dont know if there as good at parting with it!!

No one can force me to come here-----------

Suspicious because of spelling. Not 'Whose', but 'Who's' meaning Who has.
Anyway try Admiral yacht Insurance, Salisbury. Tel 01722 416106

Re: Whose got \"WORDS of WISDOM\"

found bishop skinner very helpful, cheap, and the only ones (of about 6 companies) to offer 12 months in the water cover on our particular boat.

read the fine print in the policies.....some I saw were very, very harsh towards anything that did 20knots+ (the "speedboat clauses") including not paying for damage to prop, shafts, outboard, hull(!)as a result of grounding or hitting anything below the waterline

I'm with HKJ and I've found them excellent. Premium about the best I could find and superb claim handling. I put in a claim last summer and within 3 or 5 days (during the Soton boat show too) had a cheque for the full amount. No quibbles, no arguments, just sent me the full cheque less £75 excess of course. Just got my renewal premium through and it's about 10% more than last year and I lost my NCB, so no complaints from me. Won't even bgother shopping around for cheaper quote.

Savour this rare moment when boatone and coliholic are as one in this storm battered world of boaty banter and banality.
I also would wish to extol the virtues of HKJ, having had a claim equally quickly settled without argument. The premium for my boat was way better than anything else I could find.

Call me anything you like as long as its not Adrian...............

I've recently had a claim with Bishop Skinner handled very efficiently and they give you discounts off your premium for RYA membership and having qualifications

Re: Whose got \"WORDS of WISDOM\"

I have used Chris Day, who runs the Hamble office of GJW Direct for years. I have had one or two minor problems and Chris has always taken over and sorted everything out for me. I do not know how the price compares, though last time I checked it was favourable, but consider the service is worth a little extra in any case

Re: Whose got \"WORDS of WISDOM\"

I've used HKJ for the last two years. Best rates and ploicy, never had to claim though.

This year I did go out to get competitive quotes. Panateus took a month to get back to me to tell me they weren't interested in insuring my two year old 22' Maxum. Guess who I won't ask to quote when I get a 40' Targa!!

Re: Whose got \"WORDS of WISDOM\"

Just got an e-mail back from "pantaenius" with the following quote
"It is with regret we must inform you that Underwriters have declined to make an offer for Yacht Insurance. "
I have asked them why ? but whether I will get an answer or not time will tell.
Any ideas ???
Adrian
