Whoo`s going to Oostende vor Anker then

Greetings from Oostende!

We left at midnight on Thursday - motored in almost no wind as far as LSH then had a northerly ie on the beam most of the way. 25ish knots as forecast. V heavy swells and really rolly sail - bucket much in use.

Oostende, as Peter reported earlier, is almost empty and, even with voor Anker in full swing, is a shadow of its normal self and Robert on slightly downbeat form I feel.

Still the moules frites and croquettes were as tasty as always ... Just hope we can get a good window for the return.

Good to hear you got there in one piece.
Sounds like it was an uncomfortable ride.
Would have been in other half's bad book for a while had we gone too.

All the pictures on the OVA FB page show grey skies and lots of umbrellas. :(

Enjoy and fingers crossed for the return.

Let's hope so... You're right - couldn't have got away with bringing Susanna and the girls across in quartering seas like that.

Sadly not, afraid other events have taken precedence http://www.bmdsonline.co.uk/27259956?s_source=tmwa_dic

Good to see some seem to be enjoying the sudden change in weather from what was forecast though, and I hear Bob may be having his first trip afloat, don't forget to send him back in one piece
He looks better from the back :o

I'll be there on Wednesday. No lonnnnnnng rope required eh?

Nope - no long rope needed and the way things are here, you won't even need to raft. I've never seen it so empty, and Robert has been notably absent - his rib sitting unused throughout most of the day. He used to buzz around the harbour like a mother hen - everywhere at once. Now he's not here at all???

Good thing was, today the sun came out and the vor Anker festival was totally packed - everyone must have decided it was time to visit the coast - at least the visiting ships got an audience.

Sailing back tomorrow in some sun and south westerlies.

And so you should well done, good effort all round.
I am pleased that the festival had some fine days, there is so much effort, freely given They deserve a good turn-out

"In crowd" only, chap
Jimi was there last nite 2
Nu crew sampled a real full size full strength Duval in a real glass too. None of that boys strength stuff in undersized glasses

(stir mode)Apparently he prefers the taste of what we have here(stir mode)
He tried a drop at lunch time, said something about settling a dispute or something like that. Not sure what he meant
